Working Group BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICES ASSESSMENTS

The Work Group Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Assessments is a cross-cutting platform for connecting particularly researchers involved in the Intergovernmental Panel for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) as authors or participating in any of its activities. The WG enhances the collaboration of landscape ecologists involved in regional / national assessments of ecosystem services and biodiversity. Any interested researchers with thematically related work are welcome.

Our WG supports the transcontinental exchange on most recent thematic advances, ongoing implementation activities / research programs or other events of common interest (e.g. conferences, workshops).

We also connect IALE capacity building activities with those of IPBES by joining the Matchmaking Facility of IPBES and cooperating with other partners, such as Ecosystem Service Partnership (ESP) and International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) particularly on making research results more visible and better accessible and creating synthesis in providing information.

We conduct common project or publication activities serve to harmonize and recommend on best practices in biodiversity and ecosystem services assessment and to address particularly landscape ecological methods and how these contribute to the understanding of human-environmental interactions in the provision of ecosystem services and the conservation of biodiversity.

The group invites interested IALE members to join via email to Christine Fürst (christine.fuerst@geo.uni-halle.de). Subsequently, the new members will vote for a representative of the group in IALE.
